Skyscrapers of Shibam, often referred to as the "Manhattan of the Desert," is renowned for its impressive skyline of mud-brick skyscrapers. Rising up to eight stories high, these ancient high-rises were built as early as the 16th century. The unique architectural design of Shibam's skyscrapers is not just aesthetically pleasing but also served as a defensive measure against raids, with the buildings placed closely together to create a fortified wall around the city.
Tower Houses of Sana'a, the capital of Yemen, is another city known for its architectural gems. The "tower houses" in Sana'a are characterized by their towering facades adorned with intricately carved plasterwork.
