Dubai has officially shifted gears into a new era of mobility and it's pulling up to your curb. In a massive partnership with Baidu’s Apollo Go, the city is deploying a fleet of fully driverless taxis that are set to redefine how we commute. Here is everything you need to know about the revolution happening right now on Dubai’s streets.

The Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) has teamed up with Apollo Go (Baidu's autonomous ride hailing giant) to
roll out the city’s first commercial
robotaxi service. Live as of Q1 2026.
The initial Fleet, 100 fully autonomous vehicles (aiming for 4,000 in the coming years). Dubai's self driving transport strategy, which aims to make 25% of
all trips in the city driverless by 2030.

Where can you catch a driverless ride?
The rollout is starting in some of Dubai’s popular neighborhoods. If you are in these areas, you can book a ride today,
• Jumeirah (1, 2, and 3)
• Umm Suqeim
• Coming Soon, rapid expansion is
planned for Business Bay and Dubai Marina.

You don't need a special invitation to try one. You can request a driverless taxi today through,
 1. The Apollo Go App, which is the first time this platform has launched its app internationally.
 2. The Uber App, simply select the “Autonomous” ride option when you're in a supported zone.

The star of the show is the RT6, a sixth generation autonomous vehicle built from the ground up by Baidu. These aren't just regular cars with cameras, they are supercomputers on wheels. Features over 40 sensors, including 8 LiDAR units, 12 cameras & 360 degree vision awareness with a detection range of 440 meters. It has a safety feature with dual computing units, if one fails, the other takes over instantly.

NO DRIVER! sounds scary to some. However, the data suggests these cars might be safer than us. Proven Record, Apollo Go has completed over 20 million rides with an accident rate 14 times lower than human drivers and every vehicle is remotely monitored
24/7 by a dedicated operations center
in Dubai Science Park.

Reliability? The AI doesn't get tired, check its phone, or get road rage. This isn't just about cool tech, it's about making life better for everyone in the city. For residents should expect 24/7 availability & eventually, lower ride costs. These fleets are fully electric, helping Dubai reach its sustainability goals. Elderly passengers and people of determination will have more independence with easy to use, reliable transport.

This shift is expected to save Dubai
22 billion AED annually by reducing accidents and increasing productivity.

In Dubai, whether you're a
tourist headed to Kite Beach or
a resident commuting in Jumeirah,
your next taxi might just be an AI.
Are you ready to take your hands off the wheel?
