The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has laid out a strict timeline for this year's pilgrimage season. If you are planning your journey, keep these dates on your calendar. Umrah visas will only be issued until March 9, 2027 (Approximately Shawwal 1, 1448 AH). Pilgrims must enter Saudi Arabia by March 23, 2027. All pilgrims must leave the country by April 7, 2027.
Saudi Arabia has streamlined the entire process through digital technology. To apply for permits, book services and plan your itinerary, you will need to use the official government platform called the Nusuk app. The app acts as a one stop digital hub where you can secure your electronic Umrah permits, verify details with QR codes and automate your travel contracts seamlessly.
To make the journey easier for the millions of visitors expected this season, Saudi authorities are rolling out advanced digital upgrades across airports, land borders and seaports. These include facial recognition and biometric screening for faster immigration processing with paperless e-permits, mobile processing units designed specifically to assist elderly pilgrims and people with disabilities.
Recent legal reforms ensure that registered travel companies are strictly held accountable and need to provide high quality accommodation, transport and overall services to foreign pilgrims.
The Saudi Ministry of Interior has reminded all travelers that official permits are mandatory. Attempting to perform Hajj or enter restricted areas without the proper legal permits carries severe penalties. Violators face fines of up to 20,000 SAR (approximately $5,300 USD), immediate deportation and a 10 year ban from re-entering Saudi Arabia.
By using the Nusuk app and adhering to the official deadlines, pilgrims can look forward to a safe, legally compliant and highly organized spiritual journey. Insha Allah soon it's Welcome to Makkah 🇸🇦.
